Mr. James Thomas “Tommy” Copeland, Jr., 81, of Hartsville, passed away Friday evening, February 26th, 2021, while at home with his family.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 on Monday morning, March 1st, 2021, from Magnolia Cemetery with Reverend John “Bootsie” Griggs officiating. The family will be receiving friends following the service at the graveside.
A native and lifelong resident of Hartsville, Mr. Copeland was a son of the late James Thomas, Sr. & Ethel Watkins Copeland. He retired from Sonoco Products Company after 37 years of service and was on the committee of the SPC Credit Union for 20 years. Mr. Copeland was great husband, loving father, and grandfather. Tommy loved golf, was a member of the Hartsville First Church of the Nazarene, and served our country in the United States Marines.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters: Renee (Tim) Loflin of Salisbury, North Carolina, Rhonda Talbert of Florence, and Christel Copeland of the home; grandchildren: Max Talbert (Jaimy Farmer) of Nashville, Tennessee, Michael Talbert of North Charleston, Christopher Loflin (Becka Galloway) and Alex Loflin of Salisbury, North Carolina; one special granddaughter, Nya Ambrose of the home; sister-in-law, Ann (Glenn) Traweek of Hartsville; two nieces and five nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years, Nora Lee Manship Copeland; son, Tom Copeland; and a brother, Ronnie Copeland.
