James Edward "Coconut" Huggins

December 25, 1940 — February 3, 2021

Mr. James Edward “Coconut” Huggins, 80, of Hartsville, passed away Wednesday morning, February 3rd, 2021, while at Carolina Pines.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday afternoon, February 6th, 2021, from the Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Grover Johnson and Reverend Brad Griese officiating.  The family will be speaking with friends following the service at the graveside.

A native and life-long resident of Hartsville, Mr. Huggins was a son of the late David & Vernell Gainey Huggins. Coconut enjoyed working in his pine straw business, cooking, and playing with his dogs.  He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life and greatly loved his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Mildred Wallace Huggins of home; children: Shannon (Doug) Jordan, Dane (Teresa) Huggins, and Mandy Huggins all of Hartsville; grandchildren: Cassie Jordan and Gracie Jordan of Florence, Blair Huggins of Hartsville, Lilly Huggins of Hartsville, Courtney Huggins of Hartsville; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Parnell; and daughter, Dawn Huggins.

Memorials may be made to Chapel Hill Baptist Church at 1569 Ruby Road, Hartsville, South Carolina 29550.
