Mr. James Darrell (JD) Tyner age 77, went to his Heavenly Home on August 10 while at the McLeod Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4:00 at Edwards Chapel Church. Burial will be in the Edwards Chapel Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Pierce and Rev. Jeff Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday 5-7 at the funeral home. Family will also have a visitation at the residence of Sherry Johnson, 1019 Sunnydale Lane, Hartsville.
JD was born in Hartsville a son of the late Willie Thomas Tyner and Eva Dixon Tyner. JD was born the son of a farmer and worked at Cannon Mills before he was drafted into the Army. After his completion of service to his Country, he returned to Cannon Mill until September 1974 and at that time moved back to Hartsville and worked at Roller Bearing for 2 years, then he worked at Fiber Industries until his retirement due to medical reasons. JD was a graduate of Hartsville High School and a long time member of Edwards Chapel Church. He married the love of his life Gloria Drew on July 6, 1965 and she passed away on April 11, 2024.
Surviving are two sisters, Patricia Carolyn Jordan, Patrick and Alice Elaine McLaughlin, Hartsville; Special Niece and full time care giver, Virginia (Roger) Winburn, McBee; Additional family members, Dennis Dixon, Kannapolis, Bobby Tyner, Hartsville, Sherry Johnson, Hartsville and Barbara Howitz, Hartsville.
In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Jean Drew Tyner and infant twins; two brothers, Johnny Tyner, Buddy Tyner; two sisters, Kathy Kirkman and Virginia Campbell.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at McLeod Hospice House for the care that was provided to JD during his stay.
