James Luther "Jimmy" Peavy

Mr. James Luther “Jimmy” Peavy, 72, of Hartsville, passed away Friday morning, April 28^th, 2023, while at home.

A native and lifelong resident of Hartsville, Mr. Peavy was a son of the late Luther & Hattie Juanita “Niter” Peavy.  Jimmy loved playing music and started when he was 14.   He retired from the management position of the grocery industry after 42 years of service.  He loved decorating his yard for Christmas and making wood cut-outs for people.  He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army who served from 1970-1971. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many different capacities.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife, Renee Tallon Peavy of the home; sons: James L. “Jay” Peavy, Jr., Matthew Tallon (Lauren) Peavy, and William Lane “Will” (Nicole) Peavy all of Hartsville; grandchild, Carter Bryce Peavy; siblings: Kenneth Gene (Deborah) Peavy and Jewel Daphine Peavy; also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Grover Steve Peavy.

His service will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday morning, May 2^nd, 2023, from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with President Dennis McDaniel presiding and Bishop Karl Ensign conducting.  Burial will follow on at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the Florence National Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends Monday evening, from 5-7 at Norton Funeral Home.
