Hilda Melton Brown

Hartsville, S.C.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Hilda Melton Brown age 80 on January 3, 2025. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 at the Tabernacle Methodist Church. Rev. Gerald Parker will officiate. Burial will be in the Tabernacle Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Hilda was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late Ernest M. Melton, Sr. and Milford Blackwell Melton. Hilda retired from the Health Department after 23 years of service. Even though she never had any children of her own, she loved children, especially Zack and Cole and considered them as grandchildren. She and Bo were faithful members of Tabernacle Methodist Church for many years until her health declined. 

Surviving is one sister, Bobbie Melton MacArthur, of Hartsville; 6 nieces and nephews, Kenneth Trey Freeman, Kip Melton, Cassie M. Tyler, Misty M. Melton, Richie Walters  and Mac MacArthur; niece in law, Kim Walters, Hartsville. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 30 years James Owen (Bo) Brown; one brother, Ernest M. (Buster) Melton, Jr.; two nephews, Chad Melton and Scott Walters.

The family would like to thank everyone who called or come by the residence and Hilda would have been so proud to know that you came by or called.
