View Remembrance Video Hartsville, S.C. Funeral services for Herbert Hoover Altemose age 85, who passed away June 16, will be held Friday at 4:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Marvin Griggs will officiate. Burial will be in the Darlington Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Altemose was born in Sciota, PA, a son of the late Edward Harrison & Nettie Freeman Altemose. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Mamie Strickland Altemose, Hartsville; one son, Ronald Edward (Jeanie) Altemose, Lexington; one sister, Arvilla Van (Toot) Buskirk, Greenville, S.C.; son in law, Byerly Hall, Hartsville; five grandchildren, Dylan, Doug and Shannon Altemose, Herbie Kelley and Casey Milbee; five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Hall and several siblings. Norton Funeral Home is honored to serve the Altemose family.
