Heber J. Ellison

Funeral services for Heber J. Ellison age 91 will be held Saturday at 2:00 at The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter day Saints. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Bishop Heber Watson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Ellison was born in Hartford TN a son of the late Charles McKinley Ellison and Nancy Ellen Coggins Ellison. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints., was Branch President of the Society Hill Chapel, Counselor of President in Darlington Chapel, Bishop of Hartsville Ward and served in LDS Washington, D.C. Temple and Columbia, S.C. Temple. He served in the US Army and the S.C. National Guard Reserve. He retired in 1979 as Owner and Manager of Heber’s IGA after 30 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Geraldine Cook Ellison, Hartsville; two daughters, Sherry E. Tallon, Spartanburg and Trudy (Russell) Watson, Hartsville; one son, Gary Ellison, Hartsville; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Mr. Ellison was preceded in death by a son, David Kim Ellison and a grandson, James Russell "Russ" Watson, Jr.
