Geraldine W. Atkinson

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mrs. Geraldine W. Atkinson.  A visitation in her remembrance will be held 6:00-8:00pm Friday evening at Norton Funeral Home.  Memorial services will be 2:00pm Monday, at the Florence National Cemetery.

Mrs. Atkinson age 80 passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 while at the Hospice House in Florence, SC.  She was born in Abingdon, VA the daughter of the late Gerald and Beatrice Lilly White.

She was a graduate of St. John’s High School in Darlington, SC, she was a certified Wilton instructor for over 12 years, where she made cakes and catered for weddings and special occasions.  She with her husband and family owned the Country Barn restaurant for over 30 years.   She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, William F. Smith, Jr. (Renee), Hartsville, Michael Trey Atkinson (Ashley), Hartsville, grandchildren, Lilly M. Braloski, Anna Kate Atkinson, Emma Atkinson and Cameron Braloski, nephew, Andy Gaskins (Ashley), brother in law, Bill Gaskins, special nieces and nephews with the Smith family; all of her loving workers she had by her side while at the Country Barn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Atkinson, daughter, Debbie Braloski, sister, Betty Gaskins and son in law, Todd Braloski.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mcleod Hospice House for there loving care of Geraldine during her time there.

Memorials may be made in her remembrance to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
