Gerald Gardner

Patrick, S.C. Gerald Lend (Joe) Gardner, age 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 16 following an auto accident on April 12. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Williams and Rev. Homer Hinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville. Visitation will be Saturday 4-6 pm at the residence at 25 Dan Perdue Lane, Patrick. Joe was born in Kershaw a son of the late Fred & Bleeker Morgan Gardner. He was retired from DuPont, was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He loved all sports, including the South Carolina Gamecocks. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and he was a wonderful husband. Surviving are his wife, Azalee Turnage Gardner, Patrick; one step-son, Danny (Debbie) Turnage, Hartsville; two step-daughters, Judy Turnage (Dawson) Hemby, Patrick and Valerie Turnage (J.R.) Gedris, Hartsville; two sisters, Floree Todd, Kershaw and Nell (Leo) Brown, Savannah, GA; four step grandchildren, Jamie (April) Turnage, Hartsville, Brad Hemby, Myrtle Beach, Ashley Gedris (Allen)Taylor, Bennettsville and Kasi Gedris, Hartsville; one step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Baptist church, 1635 Cedar Creek Road, Hartsville, S.C. 29550
