George Allen Prosser

George Allen Prosser, 64, born on April 10, 1959, to the late Clarence Edward Prosser and Windle Polson Prosser in Columbia, South Carolina, departed this physical world on June 21st, 2023.

Allen was a son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend to many! His 6’8” stature earned him the nickname “Big Red”, but his free, kind spirit finds his family remembering him as a “Gentle Giant” for his fierce loyalty to family.

He acquired mechanical experience through his previous profession with the Carnival as a Transport and Mechanical Technician; and where he developed his appreciation for big trucks and traveling the county.

He enjoyed hunting and watching wildlife on the family farm, his mom’s chicken & rice, and classic rock music; in fact, he always had his truck radio set to Fox102.

Growing up in a large family, the fifth of seven children, he showed his great love and devotion to his mother, as a shared caregiver for 20 plus years, after his father passed.  He made sure to get her to the Senior Center often, to the Piggly Wiggly on Saturday, and to Church every Sunday.

His passing has truly touched all that knew him.  He will be greatly missed, but forever in our hearts and memories!

Survivors include sister Janice Cope (Lamar, SC) brother Charles “Buddy” Prosser (Pam) (Tampa, FL), sisters Charlene Lawyer (Blythewood, SC), Sue Chace (Camden, SC), brothers Donald Prosser (Rhonda) (Augusta, GA), Cecil Prosser (Suzanne) (Luxembourg), and 22 nieces and nephews.

A Memorial “Celebration of Life” will be held for George Allen Prosser from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on July 16th at The Kingsmore's residence, 243 Saint David’s Church Road, West Columbia, SC.

Many thanks to Norton’s Funeral Home, Bishopville, SC, for assisting the family with his final arrangements.  If you would like to share a memory or a photo, please do so on their website at https://www.nortonfh.net/obituaries/george-prosser or Facebook.
