Gene Kelly

Mr. Gene Kelly, 72, of Hartsville, passed away Wednesday morning, September 8th, 2021, while at home surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday morning, September 11th, 2021, from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Reverend Tom McCrea officiating.  Burial with Military Honors provided by Ft. Jackson will follow in Magnolia Cemetery and the family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A native and lifelong resident of Hartsville, Mr. Kelly was a son of the late Hart & Bennie Mae Jordan Kelly.  Gene loved his family; especially his grandchildren, enjoyed bowling, and retired from Sonoco Products Company after 38 years of service.  He was a member of the Gathering Place Church of the Nazarene, a church he greatly loved.  Mr. Kelly also proudly served our country in the United States Army.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Cox Kelly of the home; daughter, Hester (David) Scarsella of Columbia; grandchildren, Finley Scarsella and Oliver Scarsella; siblings: Lynette (Toy) Dutton of Hartsville, Etral (Steve) Shumate of Hartsville, Tommy (Mary) Kelly of Florence, and a sister-in-law, Denise Kelly of Hartsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Terry Kelly
