Gay Nell Horton

Mrs. Gay Nell Horton, 86, of McBee, peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday afternoon, March 11^th, 2023, while surrounded by her family.

Her service will be conducted at 11:00 on Wednesday morning, March 15^th, 2023, from the Hartsville Chapel of Norton Funeral Home.  Reverend Tim Williams and Reverend Duane Stegall will officiate with burial following in the Abney Baptist Church Cemetery of Kershaw.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A native of Kershaw County, Mrs. Horton was a daughter of the late Lonnie & Frances Taylor Horton.  She was a member of Beauford Baptist Church and retired from MarMac in McBee.  Gay Nell loved her church family and enjoyed visiting with others.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Gail (Perry) James of Hartsville and Stacey Benton of McBee; grandchildren: Bubba James, Jessica (Brandon) Peavy, and Amy Lamb; great-grandchildren: Cayden James, Abby Lear, Jaxon Peavy, Emily Kate Peavy, and Waylon James.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Horton; son, Blake Benton; special great-grandson and the light of her life, Caleb James; siblings: LJ Horton, Ed Horton, Wilbur Horton, Betty Hinson, and Vera Robinson.

In lieu of flowers, Gay Nell requested that memorials be made to Beauford Baptist Church, c/o Mr. Danny Bradshaw, 1504 Sandy Run Creek Road, McBee, S.C. 29101.
