Frederick William Tracy, Jr., “Fred,” was born to Frederick William Tracy, Sr. and Mary Tracy on March 21st, 1947 in Atlantic City, NJ. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Seaford, DE before finally settling in Kinston, NC where Fred grew up.
Fred attended Leonard Hall in Leonardtown, MD and St. Francis Preparatory School in Spring Grove, PA where he played the trumpet and marched in JFK’s inaugural parade. He later graduated from Grainger High School, where he met many special lifelong friends, and attended Campbell University thereafter where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in History. He proudly served his country as a Military Policeman in the Army at Fort Bragg during the Vietnam War.
Fred moved to Florence, SC in 1983 where he met the love of his life, his wife, Jane. They were married December 26th, 1989. They had one daughter, Lauren. Fred retired from working in 2020 and has spent the past few years enjoying time with his two grandsons.
Fred will be remembered for his friendly personality, hilarious jokes, kind heart, and love of Notre Dame football. He was beloved by many and will be sorely missed.
Fred is survived by his wife, Laura Jane Tracy, of Hartsville, his daughter Lauren (Grayson) Beard of Florence, two grandsons, Daniel and Evan, a sister, Elizabeth Tracy of Raleigh, NC, two nephews, and his special pets. He was predeceased by his parents and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Watson, who he loved as his own.
The family would like to thank Agape Hospice for their exceptional service and kindness caring for Fred in his final months. We will never forget you.
His memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 on Thursday morning, August 17th, 2023, from Florence National Cemetery. The family will be speaking with friends following the service at the cemetery.
