Frances Humphries Hatfield

Funeral services for Frances Humphries Hatfield, age 84 will be held Sunday at 4:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. Rev. Marion Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Piedmont Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hatfield was born August 1, 1935 a daughter of the late Douglas and Ethel Branham Humphries. She was a member of St. Andrews Church of God. She was employed with Campbell Soup for many years and then went into the restaurant business having worked at the Waffle House, the Sharecropper and later was part owner of Huggy Bear in Bishopville. She never turned  anyone down that was hungry. She had many friends especially Rachael Hopkins who was with her until the end. Her son Mark Baker and her grand son Jason Jackson lived with her and took care of her until she no longer was able to stay at home.

Surviving are three daughters, Cindy McArthur, Sumter, Ann (Billy) Taylor, Sumter and Sherry (Tommy) Hatfield, Santee; two sons, Mark Baker, Sumter and Bobby (Tonya) Hatfield, Blythwood; son in law, Leo Jerry Nettles, Manning; 22 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Hatfield; two sons, Ray and Timmy Baker; one brother Sonny Humphries and one son in law, David McArthur.
