Faye Mathews

April 6, 1927 — January 28, 2018

Mrs. Faye Julia Mathews, 90, of Hartsville, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday morning, January 28 th , 2018, at Morrell Nursing Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Epperly-Williams Cemetery with the family receiving friends following the service.

Affectionately known as Mommom, she was born in Pulaski, Virginia, a daughter of the late Homer & Edna Smith O’Dell.  She was a dear lady of faith who was faithful to her God, family, and faith.  Each night before bed, Mommon would have her devotions and sing.  Her favorite Bible passage was John 3:16 and she loved doing word searches.

Surviving include her children: Jack Epperly and wife, Derri, Dirk Epperly, Sherry Fewell, Mark Epperly and wife, Michelle, Wayne Epperly and wife, Louanne, Angie Finch and husband, Eddie; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Patrick Leon O’Dell; and special niece, Becky Coleman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Martin Preston Epperly who is buried in Arlington National Cemetery and Russell K. Mathews who is buried in Fountain Inn, South Carolina; son, Dick Epperly; a grandchild, Meghan Nichole Finch,  siblings: Bernard O’Dell, June O’Dell Beckett, and Paulette O’Dell.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Morrell Nursing Center and Agape Hospice for the loving and tender care of Mrs. Mathews.
