Hartsville, SC Services for Mr. Eugene Hopkins age 88 widower of Annie Joyce Hopkins will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Chapel of Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville Chapel. Rev. Jim Baker will officiate with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, 5-7pm at the funeral home. Mr. Hopkins passed away at his residence on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. He was born in McBee the son of the late Charlie and Charlotte Hopkins. He worked construction, loved fishing and was locally known as the Sweet Potato Man. Surviving are sons, Laverne Hopkins, Hartsville, Stanley (Debbie) Hopkins, Bishopville, Terry W. (Annie) Hopkins, Lamar; daughter, Kathy (David) Stephens, Camden. 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Steve Hopkins, grandson, Stanley Lee Hopkins, Jr., daughter in law, Carol Hopkins, a sister and brothers.
