It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ethel Parnell Skinnier, age 85 on November 1, 2024.

Graveside service will be held Monday Nov. 4 at 11:00 am at the Newman Swamp Cemetery in Lamar directed by Norton Funeral Home in Bishopville. Rev. Chris Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at the residence of Phil Houck, 399 Woodham Road, Bishopville on Sunday 4-6 pm and following the graveside service.

Mrs. Skinner was born in Lamar a daughter of the late Richard Rodric Parnell and Thelma Grantham Ward. She retired at the age of 70 from Banking and then worked at the Voting Polls for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She loved working in her yard.

Surviving are two sons, Phil (Barbara) Houck, Jr. Bishopville and Dean Houck of Bishopville; one brother, Edward C. Parnell, Sumter; three grandchildren, Justin Houck, Kelli Houck and Gage Houck; three great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Phillip Eugene Houck, Sr.; her second husband, Bobby Clements Skinner and a brother Richard Parnell.
