Emily Jean Andrews

Hartsville, SC

     Mrs. Emily Jean Andrews went home to be with The Lord on Monday evening, February 12^th, 2024, at the age of 89. 

     A native and lifelong resident of Hartsville, Mrs. Andrews was a daughter of the late Luther W. & Mamie Taylor Howell.  Jean was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for 65 years.  Emmanuel was a church she dearly loved, and she taught the 2-year old’s Sunday School for 50 years.  She retired from Hartsville Manufacturing after 40+ years of service and then worked as a greeter at Walmart for 10 years.  Jean was known for her famous chocolate pies that she would take to the “Keenagers” meetings at EBC.  

     Mrs. Andrews will be remembered as a lady who was devoted to her Lord, family, and church.  When she married into the Andrews Family, they became as important to her as her family at birth.  

     Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Bennie (Robin) Andrews of Hartsville and Jeanie (Ron) Altemose of Lexington; grandchildren: Chris, Sherri, Daniel, Brandi, and Dylan; great-grandchildren: Kaila, Britney, Brandon, Emma, Annabelle, Danni Rose, Harlan, and Liam.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jennings Andrews; a son, Scott Andrews; and siblings: Eliose, Margaret, Mary, Ochae Mae, Eula, Pauline, Nellie, Annie Sue, William, and Johnny.   

     Mrs. Andrews service will be conducted at 3:00 on Thursday afternoon, February 15^th, 2024, by the graveside of the Mt. Elon Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Paul Coward, Jr. and Reverend Billy Jordan officiating.  The family will speak with friends following the service at the graveside.
