Mr. Elton Virgle Farmer, 76, was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, June 27th, 2024.
Elton was a resident of Darlington but traveled the States and the world before he retired in Sumter from the United States Air Force as a Technical Sergeant. He was a son of the late Bennie Farmer and Effie Estelean Lamb Farmer. Elton served his country for 20 years and was a proud Veteran. He was the oldest of 3 siblings and was lovingly called "Bub" by his surviving little sister Jeannette Farmer Dodge and he was the big brother to the late Gary Farmer.
He possessed many wonderful qualities one of his greatest was his love and devotion to his family. Anytime you had a conversation with Elton, he wanted to share what all his children and grandchildren were doing at the time. He was a very proud Father and Grandpa. He is survived by his son Thomas Farmer (Joanne), his daughter Christy Farmer (Rick). He has four Grandbabies which he adored, Sydney Garner (Lee), Zachory Farmer (Olivia), Aiden Farmer, and Lillian Farmer. We are all so grateful for the love, wisdom, and strength you showed us always. You will be missed and never forgotten but we are thankful you are whole again and happy. Till we meet again Pops!
The family will have a visitation Sunday June 30th, from 2 to 3 at Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville. As he wanted, he will then be flown to Stratford, Oklahoma to be laid to rest with his parents and brother.
Norton Funeral Home & Crematory of Hartsville is honored to be serving the Farmer family.
