Edward Earle

McBee, S.C. Funeral services for Edward Benson (E.B.) Earle, Sr. age 85, who passed away August 19 will be held Sunday at 4:00 pm at the McBee Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Williams, Rev. Danny Holley & Rev. John Helms will officiate. Burial will be in the McBee Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville. Visitation will be Saturday 4-6 pm at the Funeral Home. Mr. Earle was born in Central, S.C., a son of the late Walter Truman and Bertha Lawrence Earle. He was a graduate of Central High School, 1948 graduate of Clemson College,where he was recognized as one of the 100 Distinguished Graduates, member of the McBee Baptist Church, American Legion, and taught Agriculture at McBee High School for 39 years and was an Army Veteran of WW II. He was awarded the Honorary American FFA Degree in 2011, which is the highest award bestowed to anyone. He was the S.C. Agriculture Teacher of the year in 1975 and was named the Chesterfield County School District Teacher of the year. He was S.C. Soil Conservationist Teacher of the year twice. He was named one of the Sixteen Outstanding Agriculture Educators in the past 75 years. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sara Freeman Earle, McBee, four sons, Edward Benson (Ben) Earle, Jr. and his wife Annie, Dallas, N.C., William Freeman Earle & his wife Teresa, Hartsville, Walter Patrick (Pat)Earle & his wife Vicky, Hartsville, David Lawrence Earle, McBee, 10 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, one sister, Edith Hellams, Camden.
