Earnest L (Hoot) Gibson, Jr.

Funeral services for Earnest L. (Hoot) Gibson, Jr. age 95 will be held Sunday at 3:00 at the Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Grover Johnson and Rev. Eddie Strickland will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be in the Westview Mausoleum directed by Norton Funeral Home.

Hoot was born in Hartsville a son of the late Earnest L. Gibson, Sr. and Aline Weatherford Gibson. He was owner and operator of Gibson Wheel Alignment until age 91. He was an active and faithful member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, was a former Deacon for many years and helped take care of the cemetery. He loved to have a garden which he shared with his friends. He loved to build bird houses and feed them daily and loved his chickens. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a devoted Christian man who loved the Lord,his church,family and everyone he knew. He was a WWII Veteran, a Mason and a Shriner.

Surviving are two sons, Ervin (Jackie) Gibson, Hartsville and Gene (Teresa) Gibson, Hartsville; one sister, Doris Winburn, Hartsville; 8 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Grace Katherine Brown Gibson;two sisters, Gertrude Turnage and Olean Steen.
