Dr. Robert Turbeville

Hartsville, S.C. Memorial service for Dr. Robert W. Turbeville, age 87, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Murray and Rev. Gary Compton will officiate. Private burial will be in Hebron Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be following the service. Dr. Turbeville was born in Charleston a son of the late Almond Clyde Turbeville and Vennie Carter Turbeville. He was a graduate of Mars Hill College and a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1948. He practiced Optometry in Charleston for one year and moved to Hartsville and practiced from 1952 until his retirement in 2002. He was a faithful member of the Hartsville Lions Club for 60 years and a Life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a member of the Red Fox Club for several years. His love for music in his early years enticed him to start his own band of which he was an accomplished Saxophone player. He loved Hartsville from the time he became a resident and supported the city in many ways. Surviving is his special friend Sybil Jones, Hartsville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Orene Turbeville and his second wife Vivian Turbeville; one sister Myra Turbeville Sawyer.Norton Funeral Home is honored to serve the Turbeville family.
