Douglas Stephen Dickerson, Jr.

Douglas “Stephen’ Dickerson, Jr., 49, of Florence passed away on Monday, February 6 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.  Stephen was born in Marion, SC son of Kay Richardson Davis and the late Douglas Stephen Dickerson, Sr.

Stephen graduated from South Florence High School in 1991 and received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Francis Marion University.  He was employed by Assurant Insurance Company for many years and up until the time of his death.  Stephen was a devoted, lifelong Clemson and Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed hanging out on the weekends watching old movies with his beloved wife Amber, golden retriever Tucker, and their friends.  Stephen was also an avid music lover throughout his life who enjoyed many different genres of music.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Amber Caddell Dickerson; his mother Kay Davis of Florence; Sister Katherine Dickerson McCain (Donnie) of Florence: Mother-in-law Lynn B. Caddell of McBee; Sister-in-law Scarlett C. Mason (Doug) of McBee; Aunt Kathy D. Cunningham of Greenville, Uncle and Aunt Hank and Jean Richardson of Pawleys Island, Cousins William (Laura) Richardson of Columbia and Betsy R. Adams (Keene) of Pawleys Island, and Special Friends John Gossard, Chuck Lawson, John Kirkland, Mark Smith, Tony Young and many others, including nieces and nephews, all who will miss him dearly and think of him often. 

He was predeceased by his father; Grandparents Douglas R. Dickerson; Grandmother Ruth H. Dickerson, Grandfather William H. Richardson, Grandmother Kathleen N. Richardson, Sister-in-law Dixie C. Hooker; and special fur babies Tucker, Gordon, Elvis, and Bandit.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Stephen’s life on Friday, February 10 at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home at 3:00 pm.  The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Florence County Humane Society or a charity of one’s choice.
