Funeral services for Dorothy Pugh Benton age 91, will be held Wednesday at 5:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Lin Kirkman and Mr. Travis Walters will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A second service will be held Friday January 11, 2019 at 1:30 at the Apex Funeral Home in Apex, N.C. with burial in the Apex Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Benton will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 pm before the service.
Mrs. Benton was born in Laurel Springs, N.C. a daughter of the late Robert Lee Pugh and Cornelia Edwards Pugh. Dorothy attended Womans College in Greensboro and worked for 30 years in the public school system primarily in Wake County. She was an elementary school teach for 15 years and a Librarian at Vandora Springs Elementary School in Garner, N.C. for the last 15 years. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, reading, and traveling. She loved her family very much especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Lineberger, Hartsville and Patricia (Steve) Bennett, Rich Square, N.C.; four grandchildren, Brooke (Robert) Edwards, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Jeb Bennett, Raleigh, N.C., Brittany (Brian) Knapko, Camden and Matthew (Megan) Lineberger, Simpsonville; three great grandchildren, Samantha Knapko, Camden, Emery Lineberger, Simpsonville and Nora Edwards, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
