Donald David Putnam, Jr.

On the morning of Friday December 20th, Mr. Donald David “Donnie” Putnam, Jr. age 80, was called home to be with his Lord and rejoin his wife, the late Lois Jean Putnam.

A Celebration of life will be held Monday December 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Kelleytown Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Madaris, Rev. Gary Anderson and Mr. Travis Walters will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm in the church.

Donnie was born in Hartsville a son of the late Donald David Putnam, Sr. and Mary Etta Langston Putnam. Donnie was a faithful member of Kelleytown Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. He did not want to be remembered for his participation in the community or membership in local organizations, but for his faith and love for others. He often said “Do not look down at my grave, but look up toward heaven where I will be .” Donnie retired from Sonoco Products Company after 31 years of service and was a member of the Old Timers Club.

Left to cherish his memories is one daughter, April P. (Vincent) Leeth, Hartsville; Grandchildren, David V. (Macie) Leeth, Hartsville and Elizabeth M. Leeth, Taylors, S.C.; one brother, Richard C. Putnam, Florence, S.C.; His Sisters In Laws, Mary S. (Howard) Gainey, Greensboro, N.C., Diane S. (Carl) Newsome, Hartsville and Linda G. Stewart, Hartsville, S.C.; one aunt, Margaret L. Clark, Concord, N.C.; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents Donnie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Stewart Putnam.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kelleytown Baptist Church Building Fund, 2609 Kelleytown Road, Hartsville, S.C. 29550.
