Memorial service to celebrate the life of David Malchon Boykin, age 71 of Bishopville will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. Rev. Jerry Peacock will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. David passed away November 24 at Kershaw Health.

David was born in Bishopville a son of the late Burdell and Lottie Brown Boykin. He was in the National Guard for 27 years where he served in Turkey and Germany. He loved his family and friends and hosted barbecues and events in his shop/pool house.

Surviving are his wife, Merri Strickland Boykin, Bishopville; two daughters, Mary Boykin and her mother, Linda Smith of Chappells, S.C., Allison (Charles) Smith, Camden; two sons, D.J. (Lessett) Boykin , Rock Hill, Christopher (Jennifer) Rabon, Camden; nine grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy Boykin, Camden; three sisters, Annie McElveen, Lynchburg, Rosa Boykin, Bishopville and Joann (Gene) Langley, Camden; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Boykin, sister, Ellen Hayes and infant brother.
