Mr. Curtis Cooper Stewart, Sr., 66, of Columbia, went to be with Jesus on Friday, December 14th, 2018 at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Mr. Stewart was born on November 14, 1952 in Lamar, South Carolina. Curtis graduated from Lamar High School in 1971, where he played and captained the Lamar Silver Foxes Football and Basketball teams. Curtis then attended The Citadel where he finished second in the class of 1975, earning the award of the Second Honor Graduate. He would further his education with a Masters in Taxation in 1976 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 1980. Curtis became a Certified Public Accountant and an Attorney before marrying the love of his life, Patricia “Patsy” in 1982. He began his career in tax with PriceWaterhouse, before starting Capital City Insurance Company, where he served as President. A brilliantly gifted man, he would continue as an executive in the insurance industry, serving as CFO and COO of Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Company, before starting his own insurance enterprise, Ariel TPA. Known for his loyalty and a very helpful heart, he continued to service tax clients from his PriceWaterhouse days throughout his career and the formation of Stewart & Company, CPAs. A leader, mentor, and man of faith, Curtis positively influenced the lives and careers of many people. Curtis’s career was secondary to his dedication and devotion to his family and he was an active member of Centennial Presbyterian Church.
