Clingman Blair Sells

Mr. Clingman Blair Sells, 91, of Hartsville, died peacefully on Sunday morning, August 27^th, 2023, while at Morrell Nursing Center, surrounded by his loving family. 

A native of Monroe, NC, Mr. Sells was a son of the late Clingman Bright & Nora Lee Haney Sells.  He attended Unionville Schools in Monroe and Appalachian State University of Boone, NC. 

Blair worked at Hartsville Furniture Galleries, Quality Hardware and Henderson Ace Hardware, where he loved helping customers.  He was a very patriotic man, flying the American Flag and wearing red, white, and blue shirts.  During the Bicentennial, he painted the front door of their house in red, white, and blue, making headlines in The Hartsville Messenger. 

Being a true Patriot, Mr. Sells proudly served our country in United States Army, being stationed in Korea during the Korean War.  Although he loved his country, more importantly, he loved God and his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Rebecca Stroud of Hartsville, Connie Wallace of Hartsville, and Jackie (Gavin) Smith of Florence; grandchildren: Chase (Kalie) Blackwell of McBee, Corey Blackwell of Bethune, Cody Wallace of Hartsville, Conner (Kristen) Smith of Florence, Cathryn Smith of Florence; great-grandchildren: Kade Blackwell of McBee and Lily Smith of Florence; brother, Rommie Sells of Monroe, NC and several nieces & nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jackie Williams Sells and a sister, Juanita Sells Price.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2:00 on Thursday afternoon, August 31^st, 2023, from Lakeview Baptist Church.  Reverend Ken Hughes will officiate, and military honors will be provided by Ft. Jackson.  The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. 

The family would like to thank Morrell Nursing Center Staff and Nurses for their care of Mr. Sells over the years.  They would also like to especially thank Nurse Alex for her compassion and care for their dad on Sunday.
