Carson Byrd

November 5, 1947 — March 27, 2017

Mr. Carson Roschel Byrd, 69, of Hartsville, passed away Monday, March 27th, 2017, with his family at his bedside.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in Hartsville Church of God. Reverends Patrick Dye and Deryk Morgan will officiate with burial following in Westview Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening, from 5-7 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home.

Mr. Byrd was born in Florence, a son of the late John Gary & Grace Capps Byrd. He was a member of the Bellsouth Pioneers, an avid church league softball player, and holds the record for Hartsville High School Track & Field during a 4X4 relay. Carson was a Sunday School Teacher and held many titles at Hartsville Church of God. He loved all his family, but dearly loved his precious grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Moore Byrd of the home; daughters: Crystal Gibson and husband, Jessie of Hartsville, Shannon Hendrix and husband, Ryan of Hartsville, and Sharon Haynes also of Hartsville; sons: Carson “Rock” Byrd, Jr. of Hartsville, Eric Byrd of Independence, Virginia, Thomas Rogers and wife, Brooke of Hartsville; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers: Gary Wayne Byrd, Roger Byrd, and Ray Byrd.

Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House at 1203 East Cheves Street, Florence, South Carolina 29506 or the Hartsville Church of God at 664 Lakeview Boulevard, Hartsville, South Carolina 29550.
