Mrs. Carolyn Norwood Winburn age 87, wife of Mr. Cecil Ray Winburn, went to her Heavenly Home on March 4 while at the McLeod Hospice House.
A graveside service will be held Friday March 8 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. George Atkins, Jr. will officiate.
Mrs. Winburn was born in Hartsville a daughter of the late Samuel Barto Norwood, Sr. and Ethel Howle Norwood. She was the youngest of 5 children and graduated from Hartsville High School. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Hartsville, SC serving as a Sunday school teacher and WMU (women's missionary union) leader, and on other committees for several years. She worked at Sonoco, Thomas Hart Academy, and the Governor's School of Science and Math where her outreach and caring were felt by her co-workers and multiple generations of students. Carolyn was faithful to her Lord and Saviour serving and living as an example to her beloved family. She loved the beach and traveling with her friends and family, which created many wonderful memories and stories that brought smiles and laughter.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Cecil Winburn, Hartsville; one son, Greg (Amanda) Winburn, Anderson, S.C. and one daughter, Melanie (Dan) Gibson, Holly Springs, N.C; three grandchildren, Hannah, Emma, and Caleb.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Addie Gregg, Jeanette McNeill, S.B. Norwood, Jr. and Gwendolyn "Dooby" Burch.
