Memorial services for Carol Begg-Martell age 81 will be held 2:00pm Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Ashland United Methodist Church.  Pastor Kathy Carr will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel.  Visitation will be held on hour prior to the services at the church.

Mrs. Begg-Martell age 81 passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Carolina Pines RMC.

She was born and raised in Gloucester Massachusetts one of 15 children into a loving family her best friends were her sisters. After marriage she moved to Essex for 15 years where she raised her two loving children always active she was the Troop leader for Girl Scouts for many years enjoyed camping and being involved with young people. She was a member and active in The Univeralist Church in Essex. She was the chair person of the sesquicentennial celebration in Essex. Moving to New Hampshire in the 70's she settled into a rural life that she enjoyed fully raising her children and many animals. She had a very productive vegetable garden. Moving back to Massachusetts in the 90's she and Bob enjoyed all the children and grandchildren, traveling a lot with friends to visit family. Moving to South Carolina in 2008 she settled into a happy life was a member of The Ashland United Methodist church, Civitan of Hartsville and a member of the Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center where she loved working in the gift shop and making silk flower arrangements to make others happy. Always on the go she sold Avon and had a nice little business that allowed her also to provide a ministry to her many friends. Always a loving mom and Nana she will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pamala Begg-Digiovanni, Bishopville, Maryellen (Bill) Bannister, Bishopville, Sandra Martell, Goffstown, NH; grandchildren, Oana Barrudy, Lara Begg, Will Bannister, Logan Bannister, Cole Bannister; great grandchildren, Rae Lynn Bannister, Paisley Bannister; special friends, Alfred Jones and Donna Carty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Martell and her son, Alexander "Mickey" Begg, siblings, Harold Barnes, Edward, George and Robert Hardy, Marie Frontiero, Richard and Thomas Barnes, Barbara Agostini, Patricia Reed, Roberta Barnes, Marjorie Carlson , Daniel, Donald and Sherryl Barnes.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ashland United Methodist Church, C/O Yarbourgh, 426 Hillcrest Road, Hartsville, SC 29550.
