Hartsville, S.C. Family only Funeral services for Burl Alvin Hickey, Jr. age 80, will be held Saturday at 3:00 at the Darlington Memory Gardens directed by Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Charlie Short will officiate. Entombment will be in the Darlington Memory Gardens Mausoleum. A publicVisitation will be 1:30 2:30 pm at the Funeral Home before going to the cemetery. Burl was born in Knoxville, TN a son of the late Burl Alvin Hickey, Sr. and Blandean French Hickey. He attended the University of Tennessee and retired from Sonoco Products Company after 42 years of service and a member of the Old Timers Club. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and was a member of the Hartsville Masonic Lodge No. 173. Burl enjoyed Tennessee Volunteer football, remote controlled aircraft and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Sue Bingham Hickey, Hartsville; one daughter, Linda (Cleve) OQuinn, Hanahan; two sons, Michael (Delores) Hickey, Hartsville; Greg (Lea) Hickey, Hartsville; six grandchildren, Kaitlin (Chase) Hughes, Meredith Hickey, Lynn Hickey, Jesse OQuinn, Ethan Hickey and Mary Ellyn Hickey and a special friend, Justin Cox.
