Brooks Parnell

Services for Mr. Brooks Hennis Parnell age 89 will be held at 11:00am Thursday at Chapel of Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel.  Pastor Lin Kirkman and Pastor Bill Langford will officiate with burial in Piedmont Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home.

Mr. Parnell passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.  He was born in Lamar, SC the son of the late Brooks Albert and Thelma Gladys Parnell.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bishopville.  He was retired from Reeve’s Brothers, and worked at the Lee County Manned Waste Site from the time it opened until March of 2018.  He enjoyed working at the Waste Site where he could interact with people and always catch up on the latest gossip.  Mr. Parnell was a gifted fix it man and was a talented, creative wood worker.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Waylyn Langston Parnell, Bishopville; daughters, Iris P. (Norman) Hayes, Bishopville, Claudia J. Parnell (Steve), Columbia; grandchildren, Jonathan (Amy) Hayes, Lydia, Brooke (Jason) Raley, Bishopville; great granddaughter, Piper Raley, Bishopville; brother, Boykin Parnell, New Smyrna Beach, FL.

He was preceded in death by four siblings.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
