Bradley Michael Griese, Sr.

Florence, SC

     Reverend Bradley Griese, Sr., 65, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday evening, September 14th, 2024, at 8:58 while a patient at MUSC Health – Florence Medical Center.

     Born in Washington, D.C. on September 21st, 1958, to Alvin and Vickie Griese, he was the fourth of five children. 

     At age 7, following his parents’ salvation, the family began attending church. A few months later, Brad made a profession of faith. At 17, Brad reaffirmed his salvation decision.

     Brad earned three degrees from Bob Jones University between 1976 and 1999 in ministry and music. He was an accomplished musician and conductor, excelling in trumpet and voice. In 2020, he earned his Master of Divinity degree from Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary. He met his lovely wife, Karen at BJU and they were married in 1982.

     God called Brad to preach while on a church planting tour. Over his 42 years in ministry, Brad pastored churches in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. His wife, Karen, a talented pianist, served faithfully alongside him in ministry. In addition, Brad was a Christian school teacher, hospice chaplain and jail minister.

     We will miss Brad’s compassion, his selflessness, and his positivity. He was always smiling, singing, or whistling. 

     Brad was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Bill (Linda) Griese; niece, Sandra Ahrens and grandson, Josiah Griese.

     He is survived by his wife, Karen Griese; siblings: Jim (Ilma) Griese, Pat (Kevin) Ahrens and Lori (Scott) Turner; children, Brad Griese, Jr., Rachel (Daniel) Nelson, and Ben (Leah) Griese. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two grand-pets, as well as many nieces and nephews.

     His funeral service will be conducted at 12 Noon on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Reverends Dr. Joe Willard and Dr. Kevin Ahrens will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening, September 20th, 2024, from 6:30 – 8:30 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
