Bob Scott Harris, age 60, went home to Heaven on August 23, 2020, after a valiant, twenty-month battle with gastric esophageal cancer. He was born on October 7, 1959, in Mecklenburg County, NC, to James Wilson and Nannie Cooper Harris, both preceding him in death. Bob & Patti were former residents of Hartsville, S.C.
Bob was a kind and gentle giant, as well as a loving and devoted husband, father, and papa.
He was employed with Duke Energy for thirty-six years and retired in December 2018. He enjoyed his work and time spent with co-workers.
Along with a love for fishing, golfing, woodworking, he also enjoyed showering love on his four grandbabies..
Bob loved his church and the brothers and sisters in Christ he had there. His battle with cancer exemplified his faith and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patti Northcutt Harris of Wilmington. NC, two sons and their wives, Bobby and Julie Harris of Apex, NC, Ryan and Allison Harris of Hampstead, NC, three brothers and their wives, Jim and Marian Harris of New Zealand, Greg and Michelle Harris of Tarboro, NC, and Paul Harris of Burlington, WI.
Bob’s four grandchildren, Emerson Claire Harris, Lincoln Scott Harris, Nora Louise Harris, and Annie Elizabeth Harris, brought him much joy.
A memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11am, at Coastal Community Baptist Church, 7721 Alexander Road, Wilmington, NC. The doors will open at 10am allowing people to drop by and sign the registry book which will be out front if they are unable to stay for the service (there is no visitation for this service). Due to current state restrictions, seating will be limited to 150 individuals.
The family kindly requests that everyone in attendance wear a facial covering out of respect for others.
