Bobby Franklin Pope

All services for Mr. Pope are being directed by Powers Funeral Home of Lugoff and Norton Funeral Home of Hartsville is assisting with the local services.  

Bobby Franklin Pope, 75, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, peacefully at home. Born in Sumter, SC he was the son of the late Paul and Maggie Godwin Pope of Bishopville, S.C. Mr. Pope served honorably in the United States Army and served in South Korea. He retired from Dupont after 30 plus years of service. Mr. Pope enjoyed cooking and was an outstanding baker. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra Atkinson Pope; daughters, Tammy P. Watson (Chris) and Teresa C. Powers (Robbie); stepchildren, Donnie Gainey (Hayley) and Gina Gainey Gathings (Jamie); brother, William Pope (Juanita); grandchildren, Louis Watson, Mary-Margaret Watson, Gabrielle Powers, Allen Powers, Natalie Watson, Kristen Ray (Angel), Keri Cable (Daniel), Alex Gainey, Kody Heustess, Gaven Heustess; and 5 Great Granddaughter’s.

He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Maggie Godwin Pope and niece, Sherri Pope.

A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Bobby Franklin Pope will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville, SC. Burial will follow in Piedmont Cemetery in Bishopville, SC. The family will receive friends, Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 5-7 P.M. at Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville, SC.
