Mrs. Remaley was born in Tampa, FL a daughter of the late Gabriel Fletcher Brittle and Aline DeCastro Trussell. She was a member of the Hartsville Southern Methodist Church.Betty-Rose Brittle Remaley, aged 83, answered the roll call in Heaven as the song Arise My Love was being sung by family. As a young lady of 16, while being courted by her future husband, she accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Saviour. She was baptized under a train trestle, while Shall We Gather at the River was played. This was always very important to her. Betty and Robert dated several years while attending what was then named Florida College of the Bible, where she earned an Associates Degree in Bible. After marrying, she and her groom encouraged and outfitted a young lady to attend the same college. As an aspiring artist, she had the opportunity to attend fashion design school on full scholarship, but chose instead to marry. Throughout Betty's lifetime, she served in whatever capacity needed as a pastor's wife: playing piano, directing choir, speaking for the WMU on the radio, hosting children's programs, illustrating charts, bulletins, graphs and pictoral Bible posters. Although she preferred staying behind the scenes, she believed in brightening the Corner where she was. As a mother, she had six children, and kept her children in stitchesLITERALLYSewing fashionable clothes for them to wear. Much of her life revolved around her children's activities. Then she went to work in the medical field at several hospitals and nursing homes as they moved from one church community to another. Her talents were varied, her love was forthcoming, amd she often spoke of raising her kids in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Until the very end of her life on earth, she smiled, and beginning her life in eternity she tapped her Happy Feet right through the Gates of Splendor. Surviving are her husband, Rev. Robert Allen Remaley, Sr., Hartsville; four daughters, Gail (Gary) Collins, Johnson City, TN, Gladys (Dicky) Premo, Hartsville, Terry (John) Redwine, Knoxville, TN and Barbara (Jose) Cuellar, El Paso, TX; one son, Robert Allen (Angie) Remaley, Jr., Hartsville; 11 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Lynn Remaley and a brother, Robert Fletcher Brittle. Memorials may be made to the Hartsville Southern Methodist Church, 820 Lakeview Blvd. Hartsville, S.C. 29550. Norton Funeral Home is honored to serve the Remaley family.
