Betty Lou Brown Hetrick

Hartsville, SC

Mrs. Betty Lou Brown Hetrick, age 86, passed away on August 16, 2024.  Betty was known for her exceptional skills as a cosmetologist. She dedicated a significant portion of her life to teaching the art of cosmetology at Chris Logan and Legrand, shaping the futures of many aspiring stylists.

Betty lived a life filled with joy and spirit. Those who knew her appreciated her vibrant personality. She loved to have fun. She was always making jokes, bringing laughter into the lives of those around her. She cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, enjoying movie nights and sharing her love for painting and baking her famous cakes effortlessly.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Elanie Kelly (Allen) of Florence, Donna Jefferson (Dennis) of Elgin, and Alisa Overy (Donnie) of Lamar. She is also remembered by her brother, William Brown of Hartsville, and a legacy of grandchildren: Kenny Elmore, Johnny Melton, Jr., Kristen Hipkiss, Allen Jefferson, Heather Trehern, Matt Jefferson, Ron Moody, Adam Kelly, Chase Kelly, Jaxon Kelly, and Ashley Grady. Additionally, she leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, all of whom will carry forward her memory.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Haney Brown and Mary Louise Atkinson Brown, as well as her daughter Lynn Breintenbach, son Chris Grady, grandson Joshua Overy, and sister Martha Jane Atkinson Grantham.

A visitation will be held on August 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. This will be followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, concluding with a burial at Westview Cemetery.  Mr. Allen Kelly will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home.
