Betty Jean Gainey Polson

With a heart of love, Betty Jean Gainey Polson went on to her Heavenly home on March 1, 2023.

Ms. Polson, daughter of the late Maxie H Gainey and the late Bessie Gainey O'Neal, was born in Darlington County. She graduated from Florence Darlington Technical College with a degree in Early Childhood Education, where she later went on to teaching as well as working with Family Services at the Darlington County Community Action Agency - St Joseph Head Start for over 28 years. She enjoyed working with children in various capacites.

She served as Sunday School Teacher as well as the Kids Crusaders Director at Eastside Holiness Church where she faithfully attended for many years. She also served as Secretary of the Ladies Willing Worker Band of Eastside Holiness Church.

To remember her legacy of being a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, are her Brother, Grady O'Neal and Sister, Melva O'Neal of the home, Sons Julian G (Angie) Polson Jr. of Hartsville SC, Charles Durand (Samantha) Polson of Hartsville, SC Grandchildren Preston Lance (Regina) Polson of Hartsville SC, Halee Beth (Tyler) Senecal of Greenville, SC Great Grandchildren, Payton Polson and Bennett Polson of Hartsville, SC; extended family members, Dawn, Lance, Edge and Easton Arrants; special Aunt and Prayer Warrior, Winnie Mae Hatchell, Hartsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Julian G Polson, Sr, her father, the late Maxie Hartwell Gainey and her mother the late Bessie Gainey O'Neal.

Funeral Services for Betty Jean Gainey Polson, widow of the Late Julian G Polson, Sr. age 73 will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10AM at Eastside Holiness Church. Trae Smoak , Grady O'Neal, and Steve Winburn will officiate. Interment will be in Savannah Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Bishopville, directed by Norton Funeral Home of Hartsville. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 7p.m. at the residence, 2320 Lynches Drive, Hartsville, SC 29550.
