Bernice Lee Bird

Bernice Lee Bird, 84, of Walterboro, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday evening, December 9, 2022, at her residence.    

Bernice was born September 9, 1938, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was a daughter to the late, John David Muckenfuss and the late Estelle Victoria Stack Muckenfuss.  She was the devoted wife to the late, Harold Hammond Bird.

Mrs. Bird cherished her love for her late husband and love of her life, Harold.  She was known to be a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She possessed a great appreciation for animals, especially birds and had a hobby of gardening.  Bernice was open-minded and always kept the ability to change with the world around her. She was a lady with a great sense of humor and was always thankful for the things she was able to accomplish and do in all her years.        

She is survived by: her sons, John David McDonough, Randy Scott McDonough (Joanne), Lonnie Lee McDonough (Julie); her daughter, Misty Gable (Darrell); a son-in-law, David Shavella; brothers, Albert Muckenfuss and Robert Muckenfuss; and sisters, Betty Griffiths, Dorothy Sutton and Virginia Muckenfuss.  She was also survived by her loving eight grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by: her daughter, Robin Dawn March; and her brothers, Richard Muckenfuss and Hermon Muckenfuss.  

Graveside services will be held 1 o’clock, Friday afternoon, December 16, 2022, at the Bethune Baptist Church Cemetery, on Jefferson Davis Highway, Bethune, SC 29009.
