Annie Sue Smith Tyner

Hartsville, SC

Mrs. Annie Sue Tyner went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon February 23, 2024, at the age of ninety.

Mrs. Tyner was a daughter of the late Osborne Lee & Florence Howell Smith. She was the last living child of her parents.

Annie Sue, Sue, Ms. Annie or MaSue as most folks knew her as was a lifelong member of Gum Branch Baptist Church and was one of the oldest living members. MaSue had a deep love for her Lord and lived her life being a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior, spending hours praying for her family, her church family and for her Pastor. Up until the last few years, she visited the shut-ins from Gum Branch Baptist Church on a regular basis.

She was a faithful wife to James, a wonderful mom to Larry & Gail, and was MASUE to all the grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. A phone call or a visit never ended without her saying “Ya’ll be careful, and I Love you.”

Masue was known for keeping a clean house and clean yards. She push mowed the many acres around her house every summer until about 7 years ago. She was known for her home cooking and especially her home-made biscuits and Chicken & Dumplings. These were often requested at church covered dish dinners and would always show up on the table for a family meal.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter Gail & Husband Robin Bryant of Hartsville, Grandchildren: Randy and wife Cindy Tyner of Oklahoma, Tammy Keeler of Oklahoma, Jed and wife Meredith Bryant of Hartsville, Rusty and wife Victoria Bryant of Hartsville.  MaSue is also survived by great grandchildren: Caitlyn, Courtney, James, Brynna, Kelsey, Austin, Jonah, Caroline, Nicholas, Samuel, & Wesley.  MaSue was also blessed with Great, Great Grandchildren: Hallie, Emmalyn, & Grayson.   She was also blessed to have a special friend, Brenda Campbell, who visited with her at Morrell Nursing Center often.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James W. Tyner; her siblings; and her son, Larry W. Tyner.

A service to honor her life will be conducted at 2:00 on Monday afternoon, February 26, 2024, from the graveside of the Gum Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Jed Bryant and the Reverend Scott Keith officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 – 1:30 prior to the service at Norton Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in her honor to Gum Branch Baptist Church, 1504 Clyde Road, Hartsville SC, 29550 or to the St Jude Childrens Research Hospital in her memory by visiting Stjude.org.

The Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the Morrell Nursing Center for the excellent care that they have shown MaSue over the last 3 years, The staff in the ICU at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and to Agape Hospice for the excellent care over this past week.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the World that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
