Alice Ethel Vermilye Rothe, 94, peacefully passed June 2, 2021. She was born November 26, 1926 in Queens, Long Island, New York. On January 6, 1944 she married the love of her life Edward L Rothe Sr. Together they raised three sons. She worked as a secretary in Ohio School systems, and with the Civil Service as an Office Assistant in the Mine Safety Health Administration, retiring in 1992 in Reno Nevada.
After retirement the family relocated to Twin Falls, Idaho where she was an active member of the Twin Falls, Idaho Community. Serving as President of the St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, Cross Roads United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Twin Falls Community Choir. She relocated to Hartsville SC in 2016 to be with family.
Surviving are sons Edward L Rothe Jr of Hartsville, SC and Brian D Rothe of Caldwell, Idaho: Five grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and three great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Edward L Rothe Sr and a son, William George Rothe.
The family of Alice wishes to thank St. Luke UMC members and the community for their love and prayers. We also wish to thank Alice Durant for her tender loving care and devotion over the last seven months and to Agape Hospice Care for their excellent service and care of Alice.
Celebration of Life Service will be held June 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke UMC, Hartsville, SC. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to St. Luke UMC, or Agape Hospice Care.
