Adria Alexander Belk, age 84, formerly of Bishopville, passed away February 25 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home in Bishopville. Pastor Lee Patrick will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home. (www.nortonfh.net)
Mrs. Belk was born in Bishopville, the daughter of the late William Ray Alexander and Mary Kennedy Alexander of Bishopville. She was a graduate of Bishopville High School where she played Basketball for four years and attended Limestone College.
She and her husband lived at Cherry Grove Beach from 1990-2007 and she retired from Belk’s at Briarcliff Mall after 13 years. She returned to Florence after her husband’s passing in 2007. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence, S.C. She was a loving mother, grandmother and had many friends who loved her. Prissy, her beloved dog was her special companion.
In addition to her husband , Hoyt Belk, Jr. and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bubba, Ray Jr., Tommy, Boyd and Johnny Alexander and sisters, Pearl Dew, Virginia Fogle and Nora Medlin.
Surviving are her daughters, Ann (Van) Ward, Darlington, Patricia Barnes, Florence and Linda K. Belk, Myrtle Beach; one sister, Roma Mangum, Bishopville; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Will) Pettigrew, Zachary (Danielle) Ward, Tabitha Ivey, Daniel Barnes and David Barnes; four great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank her special friend Sharon McCutcheon for their long friendship, a special nurse Jami Crawford and to her wonderful caregivers.
