Funeral services for George W. Threatt, age 93, who passed away Jan. 18, will be held Thursday at 2:00 at New Providence Baptist Church. Rev. Cliff Leonard will officiate. Burial will be in the New Providence Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wed. 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home. Mr. Threatt was born in Darlington County a son of the late Henry L. & Lola Teal Threatt. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 43 years of service, member of the Old Timers Club & New Providence Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his son, George Edward (Susan) Threatt, Sr., Hartsville, Grandchildren, George E. (Erin) Threatt, Jr., Marietta, Ohio, Patricia Threatt, Houston, Texas, Great Grandchildren, Mac & Drenon Threatt, Marietta, Ohio, Brother, Maurice Threatt, Hartsville, Niece, Tina (Tony) Gainey, Great Nephew, Tyler Gainey, Hartsville. He was preceded in death by a sister Inez Cheek, Brothers, John, Ed & Brodous Threatt. www.nortonfh.net

George and Susan, It saddened me greatly to hear about the passing of George. He had a kind and giving heart. It was always a joy for me to see and spend time with him. He gave me a couple of ceramic frogs and rabbits for my porch. I will always think of him when I look at them. I'm so sorry I did not get to attend his birthday party in September. Tina just found out that uncle George had died we are so sorry to hear about this he was a outstanding man who really love life and people I can remember one time I went to go swimming in that ice cold water and lost my money we always rode our dirt bikes to the pool and some how I lost my money he said go ahead and have fun we swam for about a hour and here comes mrs Ruby I think that was her name with all kinds of drinks cookies all kind of snacks everyone would run up to her and get a drink for 25 cents chips were 25 cents to and little debbie cake 25 cents you could rack up a lot with a dollar but I lost my money she knew something was wrong because I didnt get anything so she ask and i told her i had lost my money she said are you hungry do you want a drink and i said yes mam so she loaded me up with all kind of goodies the next time i was there i offered to repay for the things she gave me she said son do not worry about that just go a swim and have a good time and be careful life was so simple back then but we will be praying for you and your family if you need anything please lets us know you got our numbers if not i will email them to u
