Graveside services for Gerry Thomas Murphy, Sr. age 83, who passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 at his home in Albany Georgia will be held Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 2:00pm at Southland Memorial Gardens in Lexington, SC.  Gerry was born in Cottageville, SC.  He was the son of Epsie C. Murphy.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  Gerry retired from Owens Steel Mill and before that he was the previous owner of Economy Heating and Air Condition.  Surviving are his wife Irene Bowers of Albany, Georgia.  Daughters:   Gayle M. (Gene) Hunter of Hartsville, SC, Kathy M. (Steve) Smith of Summerville, SC, Sharon Partin of Columbia.  Sons:  Gerry T. (Diane) Murphy, Jr. of Milledgeville, Georgia, Robbie (Carey) Murphy of Columbia, SC.  A brother Harold Murphy, Hartsville, SC.  13 grandchildren:  Shawn Futrell and Gene Hunter, Hartsville, SC, Tanya Bense and Kira Smith of Summerville, SC, Anna Dunn and Aaron Murphy of Milledgeville, Georgia, Benji, Seth and Rachel Partin of Columbia, SC, Christina, Kara, Jeana and Little Robbie (GT) Murphy of Columbia, SC, 9 Great Grandchildren Cooper Floyd and Cody Futrell of Hartsville, SC, Jaiden Duffy, Charlize and Brayton Bense of Summerville, SC,  Brice Adams, Isaiah Ruis, Murphie and Reagan Dunn of Milledgeville, Georgia.  Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his sister Diddy Compton of Childress Texas.  Norton Funeral Home is assisting the family locally.

To the Murphy family, I was sorry to see that Mr. Murphy passed away. Although it has been years since I have seen him, I remember back when I would babysit for him and Mrs. Jean for Sharon and Robbie. He was always so nice to me. I lost my dad 3 years ago and it has been tough. Hold on to your happy memories and good times. I'll remember you all in my prayers. Debbie Weaver
